In this study，ａsmall wood lathe machine by manual operation for education was manufactured，and the evaluation test of the small wood lathe machine was performed. In addition，the educational practice by using this machine was conducted, and the effectiveness of the machine was examined. The main results obtained are summarized as follows：From the results of the evaluation test，an appropriate work material was Taiwan cypress（Chamaecyparjs taiwanensis）and a gouge blade was suitable in this wood turning practice. From trials of wood turning practice used this wood lathe machine，it was suggested to be able to teach the wood turning practice. From the abovementioned results, it became clear that the wood turning practice with a small wood lathe machine by manual operation was possibility in every case of the practice class in educational organization.
