Participants were 37 elementary school students (22 boy and 14girl) and 12 junior high school students (8boy and 4girl) who participated in a 8-day organized camp program. The educational goal was to develop participants’ self-esteem and sociality through challenging activities in a natural environment. Before and after the camp we administered the self-esteem scale (Susaki and Anii, 2013), the social skills scale (Shoji et al., 2012), and the inventory of organized camp experience for children (Nishida et al., 2002). The results of repeated – measures ANOVA indicated that self-esteem scores increased significantly after the organized camp experience. In addition, multiple regression analysis indicated that self-esteem was positively rerated to contact with nature.
