<dc:description>This study attempted to examine a teaching model for tactical learning without the use of
kendo armour which incorporates and combines of the training method for fundamental kendo
techniques with a bokuto (created by the All Japan Kendo Federation) and "An examination of
a tactical learning model of kendo without armour (Honda 2010)"..
The participants in this study were forty one first year university students with no prior
kendo experience. Lesson plan for ten fifty minute lessons were created and carried out.
The goal of this teaching method is that participants would, within the interpersonal nature
of kendo, be able to develop their understanding of kendo and basic techniques through learning
the structure of waza (preparation, execution, and completion of techniques), and how to create
opportunities to strike.
In order to test the level of progression, two tests were carried out. The first was a skill
test and the second was a paper test to check understanding.
From the results of the test it was concluded that model was effective.</dc:description>
