| 内容記述 | This study focused on British university students who are regular practitioners of kendo in university clubs in the U.K. and attempted to understand their beliefs and princioles in 'the way kendo should be' and how they have been constructed. The students subjected to this study were ten students who were selected by instructors responsible for each university club in the U.K. and the British Kendo Association, and participated in a three-week training camp with F university kendo club in Japan. They participated in semi-structured interviews which took one hour to one and a half hours, and made comments on the reasons why they had started kendo and had decided to continue it as well as their experince of kendo and their viewpoints of kendo. Their views on the way kendo should be were divided into five properties; 1) what makes kendo original, 2) attitude to training, 3) what correct kendo is, 4) how personal relationships in kendo should be and 5) how kendo should spread and develop internationally. This study reports their viewpoints of kendo in 1) and 2). | |||||
