Participants were 37 elementary\nschool students (22 boy and 14girl) and 12 junior high school students (8boy and 4girl) who participated\nin a 8-day organized camp program. The educational goal was to develop participants’ self-esteem\nand sociality through challenging activities in a natural environment. Before and after the camp we\nadministered the self-esteem scale (Susaki and Anii, 2013), the social skills scale (Shoji et al., 2012), and\nthe inventory of organized camp experience for children (Nishida et al., 2002). The results of repeated –\nmeasures ANOVA indicated that self-esteem scores increased significantly after the organized camp\nexperience. In addition, multiple regression analysis indicated that self-esteem was positively rerated to\ncontact with nature.
