内容記述 | The aim of this paper is to clarify a theoretical background for infants’ movements and their physical growth and development, and to outline points for consideration for kindergarten staff in their observation of infants’ movements during caregiving. To do so, we consider infants’ movements and active play in philosophical and phenomenological terms, and attempt to describe the human relationships within which the infants’ perception and movement are interwoven, as well as the relevant epistemology. First, reference is made to the differences between the concept of play and the phenomenological play theory; additionally, Buytendijk’s phenomenological play theory is philosophically considered from the viewpoint of the play theory of Huizinga and Caillois. Next, as a theoretical premise providing insight into infants’ bodies, movement and active play, the paper cites Merleau-Ponty’s theoretical framework of perception and movement. It explains the distinction between objective body and phenomenal body, as well as motoric meaning and body schema for understanding infants’ movements. The paper also cites the concept of intentionality, which deals with the directionality of human consciousness and is central to Husserl’s phenomenology. It goes on to clarify how infants’ movements and active play are accompanied by various forms of conscious activity such as reflection upon past actions, and internal conflict between intended action and mid-action adjustment. Understanding the process and mechanism of infants’ movement and perception provides insight into the considerations to be made when observing infants’ activities or leading active play. In the context of their internal growth and development, positive engagement with movements and active play also benefits infants’ everyday motivation. Thus, the study explores a relevant theoretical understanding and appropriate methods for kindergarten staff that are necessary in the observation and leading of infants’ movements and active play. |
