This course was taught to freshmen (n = 107) during the 2019 fall semester in western Japan. In order to examine the participants’ perceptions of CBI / CBI on TEYL, ideal ELTP (ELT at the primary level) self and self-concept, retrospectively at the beginning of the course and at the end of the course in real time, a survey was conducted using a 6-point-Likert-scale questionnaire (k = 37). The data were compared between the course beginning and end, revealing that the prospective elementary school teachers’ perceptions of CBI / CBI on TEYL were rather positive from the onset, and then improved slightly after the course. It was also shown that their future images of elementary school teachers teaching English, in terms of ideal ELTP self, had improved after the course, and that their general perceptions of themselves, self-concept, in CBI on TEYL were fair throughout the course.}, pages = {71--84}, title = {What are Would-be Elementary School Teachers’ Perceptions of Content-Based Instruction on Teaching English to Young Learners ?}, year = {2023}, yomi = {ミヤサコ, ノブヨシ} }
