内容記述 | シンガポールの日系企業における多文化接触の現状をインタビュー法を用いて明らかにするとともに, 在シンガポール日本人の精神保健とそれに影響を与える体験について統計的に明らかにした。 This study tried to find how people are interacting and accommodating in multi-cultural companies, and in the multi-cultural society of Singapore. Firstly, a questionnaire was administered to 88 Japanese business persons in Singapore that come into contact with multi-ethnic people. 94% of them felt there were differences in working manner and way of thinking. Secondly, 31 Japanese, Chinese, and Chinese-S'porian including persons with experience studying in Japan were interviewed. Some Japanese were surprised by S'porians unapologetical attitude, the Job-hopping, sometimes keeping some knowledge to themselves in the company, changing of companies along with their colleagues, and trying to become boss. The meaning of these phenomena were discussed. S'porian's top down and responsibility system are not understood by Japanese. Japanese Ba (frame) and Tate (vertical) and communication system are not understood by local people. Some Japanese are shocked by the class differences and ethnic boundaries in companies. Some reactions to cross-cultural contacts (e.g. taking on others' responsibilities, generalization, trying to minimize discrepancies) and some strategies (e.g. allowing local staff to have company stocks, holding meetings in English) and their mental health were discussed. |
