内容記述 | The present study investigated the effect of body image change on self-efficacy for college students using the sequential body movement program in general physical education courses. The physical education programs were taught to a total of 220 (123 female and 97 male) students as a part of general courses, 90 minutes per week for 14 weeks. Forty college students were taught the sequential body movement program by a dance specialist as an experimental group, and 85 students in the softball courses and 95 students in general activity courses were used as a control. The sequential body movement program was created by simplifying and modifying dance movements so that novice participants could easily practice. The main findings were as follows: First, the sequential body movement program significantly improved or enhanced the body image of participants as compared to the ones in the other programs. Second, the sequential body movement program helped the participants change their body image and self-efficacy more positively than the participants in the other programs. This investigation focused on sequential body movements which have not been studied previously. However, the following things should be taken into consideration in future investigations. It might be better to use solo dance programs of sequential body movements without body contact in any future study. Furthermore, in the present study, a general self-efficacy scale was applied to measure the self-efficacy of the subjects, but a self-efficacy scale specific to dance may be better for the measurement. | |||||
