内容記述タイプ Abstract
内容記述 The purpose of this study was to collect actual events related to perceptual changes and illusions in times of good and bad performance or form in sports. These events were categorized based on the perceived objects, such as balls and fields, as well as perceptual attributes like size and extent, in order to elucidate the specific perceptual changes and illusions that occur in these times. Participants were asked open-ended questions like, “In times of good (bad) performance or when you are in good (bad) form, what kind of experiences or sensations have you had? For example, in baseball batting, the ball may appear larger (smaller) when you can (cannot) hit it.” A total of 421 items related to perceptual changes and illusions in good performance or form and 431 items in bad performance or form were collected across various sports. These events were then categorized using the KJ method, a qualitative research approach. As a result, perceptual changes and illusions in times of good and bad performance were classified into 12 categories based on perceived objects: equipment, location, one’s own body, opponent’s body, field of vision, opponent’s movement, trajectory of equipment, one’s own movement, time, sound, equipment’s movement, and one’s own trajectory. Furthermore, based on perceptual attributes, these changes and illusions were classified into 12 categories: weight, appearance, distance, speed, size, height, breadth, sensation, length, sound, anticipation, and hardness. Interestingly, these perceptual changes and illusions occurred in various ways in terms of how different attributes related to various objects and their size or extent were perceived, even when the physical properties of the perceived objects and their attributes remained unchanged.
